Iowa (IA) Department of Human Resources
August 15th, 2006 Posted by KimberlyThe Iowa (IA) Department of Human Resources provides a great deal of help to those that live in the state of Iowa. If you live within this state, then you know that there are many aspects that need to be taken care of by it. Yet, this department has served our citizens fairly well in the last years. For example, in February of 2005, the state’s unemployment rate was at a high of 5.1 percent. Since that point, the implementation of programs and jobs has helped to drop the unemployment rate to one of the lower rates in the country at just 3.6 percent. The national unemployment rate is at 4.8 percent as of July of 2006.
Yet, how has this happened? There are several governmental agencies that play a role here. For one, the increase in the state’s educational and training programs for workers that are no longer able to find work in their field has gotten a boost. The Iowa Department of Human Resources has received 471.9 million dollars in the last five years in an effect to help with this program. Its goals are to help provide the necessary skills to workers in the state as well as help them to develop careers that are beneficial to their life.
Another program that is fundamental in helping the Iowa Department of Human Resources to find benefits is that of One Stop Career Centers. This program is one that is nationwide and it provides for a solid investment all over the country. With this program, the needs of the employment seeking individual are met. Here too you can receive training as well as education to aid in finding the right job for your need. There are also federal levels of assistance programs that are opened up at this level to also provide the necessary help. All of these aspects have helped the Iowa Department of Human Resources to get that unemployment rate down, considerably in a short period of time.
