New York (NY) Department of Human Resources

In our state, there is plenty of news happening, but do we know what is truly important that is facing our citizens? The New York Department of Human Resources is a great tool to have for anyone that lives or works in the state of New York. This department plays a significant role in our daily lives even if we do not realize it. Those that would like to know where the true economy lies need to consider what this department can tell us about it. In fact, they can tell a great deal.

For example, the New York Department of Human Resources provides a great deal of information to us on the unemployment rate in our state. This number is important as it is said to be in direct correlation with the economy in the state. For example, in September of 2003, the unemployment rate throughout the state was at a rate of 6.5 percent, a rather high number. Yet, by July of 2006, it has dropped to just 4.6 percent. This has happened for a number of reasons. For one, there have been over 205,000 jobs added to the state since August of 2003. Yet, it may stem more so from the programs offered as well.

The Job Training and Dislocated Workers Funds in our state have received over 4 billion dollars worth of funds to help in training and educational needs for those that are unemployed. In addition, career development programs are in place to fund long term job training. One Stop Career Centers is another funded program offered through the New York Department of Human Resources that provides for the needs of those that are unemployed in the state. All of this information is necessary and fundamentally important to know if you plan to work or live in the state of New York.
