The West Virginia (WV) Department of Human Resources provides a great deal of help to those that need it. This is a state run agency that provides crucial help in the way of employment and other labor related aspects of the government. Our state’s Department of labor also provides us with a great deal of help in maintaining information flow to those that live here. If you are not sure what the state actually has accomplished over the last few years, take a look.

For example, the West Virginia Department of Human Resources provided information to us in regards to the state’s unemployment rate. Currently, the unemployment rate is at 5.4 percent, which is a bit higher than the national average. The national average is that of 4.8 percent. But, if you look at the bigger picture, you can see that since July of 2003, the state’s unemployment numbers have fallen from 6.2 percent. What has caused this change?

There are a number of things that can lead to this type of change. For example, the West Virginia Department of Human Resources also informs us that since November of 2003, the state has helped to create (with the help of local businesses of course) 27,200 jobs in our state. That is a fair amount of jobs in a short period of time.

More information can be gathered from the Department of Human Resources as well. For example, to help train those new employees for the new positions that have become available; the state has received over 420 million dollars in funds for the Dislocated Worker Fund and the Job Training Fund since 2001. All of this put together is what has lead to an improved economy and the dropping of the unemployment rate. Nevertheless, we still have some ways to go.
