Labor Law Posters for California
August 31st, 2006 Posted by DerrickI would like to tell you about the labor law posters for California. I was interested to see how many state posting requirements California has for employers and employees. There are also federal postings that must be included on the labor law posters for California. I am going to let you know about the postings and the requirements employers must follow when displaying the posters.
In 2005 Governor Schwarzenegger created and launched the Economic and Employment Enforcement Coalition. The Coalition serves both employers and workers. One of their roles is to make sure that the rights and protections explained on the labor law posters for California are being followed. All applicable labor law posters for California must be displayed in workplaces throughout California.
The labor law posters for California contain the required content for both the state and federal postings. The state posting requirements are the Discrimination Notice, Minimum Wage Notice, the Family Rights Act Notice A & B, Unemployment Insurance, OSHA – Safety and Health, Access to Medical and Exposure Records, State Disability Insurance, Workers’ Compensation, Time Off to Voting Notice, Payday Notice, Emergency Phone Number, Whistle Blower Protection Act, Smoking Policy, and Edd UI, SDI, PFL Notice. Obviously the federal posting requirements for California are the same as all the other states in the United States. These required postings are included with the required state postings on the labor law posters for California.
Employers aren’t required to update their labor posters every year. However, employers do need to display new posters if one of the postings is changed. It’s the employer’s responsibility to make sure the posters being displayed contain the correct information. It’s also the employer’s responsibility to make sure the labor law posters for California are placed in a conspicuous place. This means the posters need to be where they are obvious and easy to read for all employees.
