As an employer in Alabama, you need to help keep your employees updated on the state labor laws by keeping updated Alabama posters available in the workplace.  When I say available, that means that they need to be posted where the employees will see them, so a good place to put them would be in a break room, mail room or other place where the employees tend to gather before or after work or during their breaks.

These posters are helpful because they show the employees what their rights are concerning their employment in the state, who they need to contact if there is a violation and what they can do to protect themselves from unlawful behavior in the workplace.  While the posting laws say that the information needs to be available for the employees, it is actually also very helpful for Alabama employers as well.  By displaying the Alabama posters and keeping them updated, Alabama employers can ensure that their following the laws as they apply to themselves, their employees and their company.    

The Alabama Posters outline the laws, rules and regulations on the following topics: Worker’s Compensation, Worker’s Compensation Fraud Notice, Child Labor, and Unemployment Insurance.  Federal Posters for Alabama include information on USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA-Job Safety & Health Protection.  By having a complete, current set of posters available, each person’s rights and responsibilities will be clearly available if in fact they do have questions.

Labor laws change often and Alabama is not an exception to that.  That’s why employers need to make sure they always have a current set of Alabama posters (both for their protection and their employee’s protection).  Additionally, it’s the law to keep the posters updated and available.
