Alabama (AL) Employment Labor Posters

September 8th, 2006 Posted by Lindsay

The state of Alabama has very strict guidelines for employers as to how they must treat employees. Employers cannot discriminate against their employees because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, or national origin. There are rights that are protected for people who are members of the military, and for employees who need to take family or medical leave.

There are also laws that require minimum wage payments, worker’s compensation for employees who are injured on the job, and unemployment insurance for those who become employed through no fault of their own. There is a law protecting children from labor, and a law prohibiting employers from requiring a polygraph test.

All of these laws are printed onto posters, and Alabama’s Employment Law requires employers to place the Alabama (AL) Employment Labor Posters

at the workplace in plain view. Each employer must keep accurate, updated federal and state labor law posters. The Alabama Employment Labor Posters must include worker’s compensation, child labor, and unemployment insurance. If those are not posted, the company may receive a citation. The posters are also a reminder for the employer to comply with those rules.

There are also Federal labor law posters that are required to be placed in view of all employees. They are:

Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law

OSHA - Job Safety and Health Protection

Employee Polygraph Protection Act

Federal Minimum Wage

Family and Medical Leave Act

USERRA - Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act of 1994

In order for an employee to know when his or her rights have been violated, he or she must first understand what those rights are. That’s the purpose of the Alabama (AL) Employment Labor Posters; so that people know what rights they have and whom to contact if they think their rights have been violated.
