CT Laws
September 8th, 2006 Posted by HeatherCT laws address a variety of issues pertaining to the Connecticut workforce. For example, OSHA safety alerts are documented as well as other information needed
by employees.
Safety alerts are documented on a website dedicated to inform people about CT laws.
These alerts are additions to the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA safety laws, and other CT laws, and are updated periodically. One of the latest alerts includes that of safely using All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) on the job site.
CT laws also provide regulatory information regarding unemployment compensation and ensure that all workers under certain conditions are covered. Furthermore, CT laws also help reduce the amount of liability that an employer would have in any injury case. These laws also address conditions of unemployment benefit taxation.
Other issues that may be addressed within CT laws pertaining to employment include those of wage payment. For instance, Connecticut has established a minimum wage of $7.40 per hour for the entire state. It is necessary to document this within Connecticut law so that workers and employers know what to expect, which would be nothing less than this wage in most cases.
Other provisions made regarding wages in CT laws include that of pay periods. Most employees are required to be paid on a regular basis, usually twice a month. If an employee is terminated that person must be paid by the employer by the next business day. If an employee quits, payment will be made on the next closest payday.
CT laws also state that employees can file claims for non-payment of wages in writing. This can be done by filling out a claim form obtained through the Wage and Workplace Standard Division.
Other information can be obtained by employers and employees regarding CT laws other than what are described above. For example, those who want to learn about the workforce Investment Act (WIA) are able to do so by reading CT laws.
CT laws provide a guide to all citizens and employers of Connecticut. It is important that all employers and citizens stay informed.
