DE Laws

DE laws provide a variety of services to Delaware workers and employers. Issues addressed by these laws include safety, unemployment insurance, and payment of wages.

DE laws explain how employees can be safe on the job. Delaware employees are required to keep this information on hand. Furthermore, workplaces are required by Delaware law to be inspected from time to time. In addition, suggestions are usually made during these inspection times, which help employers improve the overall safety of their place.

DE laws also provide information to employees regarding how to apply for unemployment benefits. In addition, the employment laws of Delaware also provide information which tells employees who will pay them for their benefits and how.

Workers’ compensation is another issue covered by DE laws. This helps both Delaware employers and employees know what their rights and responsibilities are concerning this issue. For example, employees may need to know that they have the right to choose their own medical treatment, but the employer has a right to also verify that claim by also having a diagnosis done through that employer.

DE laws also provide contact information to all the departments that either an employer or employee may need to communicate with. Furthermore, DE laws indicate which employers are required to provide workers’ compensation. All employers who hire at least one person must provide workers’ compensation.

DE laws also cover other issues as well, regarding payment of wages. For instance, employers are required to pay their workers a minimum of once a month. Additionally, employers in Delaware are not allowed to withhold wages from employees for cash or inventory shortages, cash advances or charged goods and services, damaged property, or failure to return property.

Employers and employees both need to keep in tune with current DE laws. Delaware employers usually have these laws posted in plain view on job sites for all to see.
