FL Laws

FL laws are available to help regulate the performance of most workplaces. Most employers are required to abide by these laws.

FL laws regarding employment include payment of workers’ compensation, education of unemployment insurance, and an awareness of all the provisions that FL laws make. Workers and employers both need to know details about the claim process involved in all aspects of these benefits provided.

FL laws also provide information regarding wages and hours that are updated periodically. For example, the current minimum wage for Florida workers is documented in these laws. In fact, that wage was just increased in January to $6.40 per hour.

FL laws also make a provision for employees to legally collect unpaid wages due to them. For example, employees can give an employer a written notice stating the details of the wages owed, and then the employer upon receipt of this verified agreement must pay the balance within 15 days. Further action can be taken if the balance is still not paid.

Other aspects of FL laws cover issues regarding discrimination in the workplace. For example, a person may feel discriminated against because of his or her gender, and may need to know how to fight against that. Usually in the case of proving gender discrimination the employee has to prove that he or she has the same exact abilities and skills and knowledge of his or her counterpart.

Discrimination in the workforce is most easily proved in a case when two people work identical positions with identical responsibilities. Any variation at all in merit or expertise could legally affect a worker’s pay.

FL laws have helped both employers and employees over the years. Many disputes have been resolved through the Florida legal system pertaining to employer-employee conflicts as well. In addition, these laws have been posted in appropriate places on the premises of most employers.
