Employers in Pennsylvania need to post the labor and employment laws found on the Pennsylvania posters. These posters include both state and federal laws. The necessary state laws include the information concerning child labor, unemployment insurance, discrimination, the Right to Know, minimum wage, employment provisions, public accommodation and equal pay. The federal laws that should be covered are basically the same for every state. They include USERRA – Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA – Job Safety and Health Protection.

The Pennsylvania posters need to be placed in a conspicuous spot within an area where all employees have access. Possible places include employee work rooms, break rooms or mail rooms – really anyplace that the employees tend to gather or visit on a regular basis is appropriate. Employers also need to make sure that the posters they have made available to the employees are up-to-date because labor laws frequently change –sometimes even yearly.

The posting requirements for Pennsylvania posters is primarily meant to benefit the states’ employees because it gives them the information they need to know and understand their rights and responsibilities within the workplace as outlined by state and federal laws. The information on the posters also often includes the protocol for the grievance or complaint process complete with which state and federal agencies they need to contact.

Employers also benefit from this information, however. By using the information on the Pennsylvania posters, employers will know exactly what they need to do to uphold their employees’ rights. They can also use the information on the poster as a reference if they have a question about a specific law such as what the exceptions to the equal pay laws are.
