Texas Labor Law Poster
September 11th, 2006 Posted by AlexandraHi how are you doing today? The Lone Star State – Texas – is one of my favorites when it comes to labor law. Everything is bigger in Texas, even their labor law posters. Each Texas Labor Law Poster has specific laws that relate to employment and where an employee can receive assistance if he or she feels that one of the laws have been violated.
The Texas Labor Law Poster contains information about state laws including Child Labor, Workers’ Compensation Notice - Part 1, Workers’ Compensation Notice - Part 2, Worker’s Compensation - TWCC # 5 Notice, Payday Notice, Unemployment Insurance and the Fair Employment Notice. The federal laws include USERRA- Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA-Job Safety & Health Protection.
One of the newer State laws on the Texas Labor Law Poster includes the Payday Notice. When the Katrina Hurricane hit the Texas coast many people came to help rebuild, however some were exploited when it came to payday or contributions to non-profits/charities. In September 2005, the U.S. Justice Department created the Hurricane Katrina Fraud Task Force, designed to deter, investigate and prosecute disaster-related federal crimes such as charity fraud, identity theft, procurement fraud and insurance fraud. Many of the people that contributed were out of state and easy to defraud. The workers were migrants and did not understand the laws when it came to payday. This law was very important to protect workers in Texas.
It is very important that the poster is placed in a conspicuous place at work. Remember it is the employer’s responsibility to have the latest version on file in the work place because these posters are updated frequently. It is the law.
Check the existing Texas Labor Law Poster at your place of work. It is very important to have the latest posters hanging up in the work site for employees to see.
I will update you in the future when the laws in Texas change. Make sure you check back for updates in the near future.
