Federal Law Posters

September 13th, 2006 Posted by Alexandra

Federal Law Posters must be posted in a conspicuous place at the job to ensure that everyone can see them. Sometimes the posters are on the walls in the common areas or in the employee workroom just to name a few places. These posters have information regarding federal and state laws listed for employees to view.

Each of the Federal Law Posters have specific laws that relate to employment and where an employee can receive assistance if he or she feels that one of the laws have been violated.

Federal Law Posters contain information about the USERRA - Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA-Job Safety & Health Protection. Sometimes these posters are combined with state law information too!

There are a couple of laws that I would like to emphasize.

The Family and Medical Leave Act provides time for employees that have a new baby, adopt a child or are ill for a period of time, the ability to take a leave of absence and then return to work in a comparable position. Many people would take time off but they had to quit their jobs or when they came back they were put in a different position that was not comparable to the one they had before taking leave.

The USERRA is a newer law that protects servicemen and women when they are called for duty. The serviceperson can return from their tour of duty to their position with comparable pay when they left. They do not have to worry about losing their job because they left for duty.

It is mandated by law that Federal Law Posters are posted for employees. In addition they must be updated frequently. This is the responsibility of the employer to post the latest version on file in the work place.

I wanted to make sure you knew about Federal Law Posters Make sure you check back for updates in the near future.
