ID Labor Laws
September 16th, 2006 Posted by JaredWhile searching on the internet today for various state labor laws, I found the Idaho (ID) labor laws. There are many laws in effect in the state of Idaho which were created for the safety and well-being of both the employers and employees. Some of the ID labor laws I found deal with minimum wage, overtime pay, and child labor, just to name a few. In many cases, ID labor law posters are required to be hung somewhere in the business so employees can see them. Often employers will hang these ID labor laws in conspicuous areas of the work place, like the break room, work area or around the time clock.
The first of many ID labor laws I found deals with the minimum wage. Idaho takes its cue from the federal government on this issue, as their current minimum wage is $5.15 per hours. However, when it comes to tipped employees, Idaho requires that employers pay tipped employees $3.35 per hour. There is also a law which allows employers to pay any employee under the age of 20 years old $4.25 per hour for the first 90 days they are working.
There is an unemployment insurance benefit through ID law, as well. When an employee is unemployed involuntarily, they are eligible to receive this benefit. However, after a certain amount of time has elapsed and an employee has not filed a claim, they could lose their benefits under the law.
Equal opportunity is another of the ID labor laws. It basically states that an employer may not discriminate against someone due to their gender, color, race, religion, and many other attributes.
I hope you have found this quick overview of the ID Labor Laws helpful in some way. When you need detailed information about the ID labor laws, it is best to look for the required state posters in workplaces across the state. However, you can also find information about both state and federal labor laws on the Idaho Complete Labor Law posters.
