Virginia (VA) Employment Labor Posters

I know that employers in Virginia already are aware of the Virginia (VA) Employment Labor Posters that are required by law. These posters have to be placed on display in a conspicuous location within the business so that all employees have the opportunity to view them. Although you’re probably already aware of which posters are required to be hung up, I am going to give you a quick run-down so that we can be sure everyone is on the same page. The Virginia (VA) Employment Labor Posters that are required are: OSHA-Health and Safety Protection, Discrimination Notice, Unemployment Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation.

There are also Federal labor law posters that are required to be placed in view of all employees. The Federal Employment Labor Posters are:

Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, OSHA - Job Safety and Health Protection, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Federal Minimum Wage

Family and Medical Leave Act, and the new USERRA - Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act.

It is vitally necessary that you hang these posters up where everyone can see them. You might consider putting them in a break room or a lunch room. You might put them in the meeting room if you use it often. If you have employees who punch a time clock, you could place it there so that they all will see the posters every day.

By putting the posters where employees can view them, you are letting them know that these laws exist and that you intend to follow them. Whenever you send a strong message to employees, they will get the message. They will probably try to be more compliant with the laws, and there will be no confusion about how they should follow those laws because they will be very clear. All in all, informed employees are better workers.
