SC Labor Laws

The South Carolina (SC) labor laws are very similar to all the other states’ labor laws which I found online. They deal with many different issues faced by employees and employers everyday, like work place safety and minimum wage. These laws have all been put into effect to benefit everyone involved.

There are several SC labor laws which are required to be posted in the work place. These have been put on SC labor law posters. Employers need to hang these posters in conspicuous places where employees have easy access to them. Some places they might be found are the employee break room, work areas and even the walls around the time clock.

The first of the SC labor laws which I found deals with the SC OSHA, an act guaranteeing work place safety. This act states it is the responsibility of the employer to offer workers a place of employment that is free from hazards which could be life threatening or could cause serious physical harm. Employers are not permitted to discriminate against those employees who report safety violations.

The minimum wage in the state of South Carolina is currently $5.15 per hour, which follows the federal standard. When employed, as worker is supposed to be informed of rate of pay, payment schedule, and has to be given notice is any changes are to be made in advance.

The SC labor laws dealing with child labor are some of the more detailed laws. They actually determine the minimum age a minor can work, which jobs a minor can hold, and how many and which hours a minor can work each day and week. In this state, many jobs are restricted to minors due to the hazardous nature of the work.

These are only a few of the many SC labor laws that are in effect. You can find many more in detail online and on the South Caroline labor law posters. When you want both state and federal labor laws in one convenient place, find a copy of the South Carolina Complete Labor Law Poster.
