TX Laws
September 20th, 2006 Posted by Heather Quite a few TN laws pertain to the regulation of employment issues. These laws are available for both employers and employees to take
a look at.
One of the provisions made by TN laws is that regarding unemployment insurance. Those who receive unemployment insurance in Tennessee are those who have lost work due to no fault of their own. Portions of the wages lost are paid to employees who are eligible for these benefits. These are paid until the employee either returns to his or her previous position or finds a new job.
TN laws also have established guidelines for the payment of workers’ compensation. In order for an injured person to receive workers compensation benefits that person will need to report the injury incident, preferably in writing to the employer within 30 days. Benefits will pay for medical expenses, lost wages, and any additional settlement pay that the employee will be entitled to receive.
Safety issues are also a major concern addressed within TN laws. For instance, laws are set in place to help prevent heat stress on the job. These laws apply to Tennessee employers such as factories, foundries, chemical plants, mining sites, and steam tunnels. Employees shall be supplied with an area of work that is free from all hazardous conditions.
Another issue addressed within TN laws includes that of termination. Tennessee employers are allowed to hire, fire, or suspend for any cause or no cause at all. Some exceptions to this rule include that of being called to military elections, voting in the elections, or being called to jury duty. These laws also prohibit from employees being fired in case the case that the employee either threatens to report an employer violation or actually does report it.
TN laws help both employers and employees learn their rights and responsibilities. These laws also provide adequate explanation on various procedures that employees must follow.
