WA laws include those that address issues pertaining to employment in the state of Washington. These laws are to help employers and employees know what their rights and responsibilities are in the work force.

One section of WA laws pertains to the procedure for claiming workers’ compensation. Those who are injured on the job are eligible to receive a portion of the wages lost as well as payment for medical expenses which are directly related to that work accident.

In order for injured persons to receive these benefits they need to either report it to their employer or they need to contact the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Most employees in the state of Washington are eligible to receive these benefits.

WA laws regarding employment regulations also establish ground rules for safety in the work place. Specific rules for safety are set in place for farm and other agricultural work sites, as well as on construction sites, and within logging operations.

WA laws have additional regulations regarding retaliation against employees who make injury claims. For instance, employees are prohibited from firing an employee or laying an employee off because of such a claim.

In addition, employees who are applying for workers’ comp must not be demoted or assigned to an unwanted shift. The employer’s failure to adjust job duties according to doctor’s instruction, denying of a promotion, and reduction or loss of wages and benefits is also forbidden by law.

WA laws pertaining to employment also help establish the payment of wages. For instance, most employers must pay their workers on regular paydays no less than once a month.

WA laws are designed to help employers and employees to know what to expect in the workplace. These laws help train and educate as well as help establish standards which apply to all aspects of the work place.
