WY Laws
September 20th, 2006 Posted by HeatherWY laws exist for the protection of workers. They also exist to help employers and employees know their responsibilities within the workplace.
WY laws
exist to help workers apply for unemployment Insurance. Those employees who are eligible for these benefits must have lost their job through no fault of their own. In addition, they must be seeking work and must meet all requirements regarding work.
WY laws also help employees and employers understand their responsibilities when in the process of applying for obtaining workers’ compensation. For instance, both employees and employers must report injuries by filing a Wyoming Report of Injury. Benefits are usually paid regardless of the cause of the work accident.
Workers’ compensation helps pay for expenses such as a percentage of wages lost as well as medical expenses related to the injury. Employees who are eligible to receive worker’s comp are also required to actively seek work at least five times over a six week period.
In order to ensure the least possible numbers of injuries in the workplace, WY laws have established safety standards. These regulations are enforced by OSHA and the Wyoming Workers’ Safety and Compensation Division.
Other guidelines within WY laws include those that regulate the payment of wages. For instance, certain employers are required to make payments at least twice a month. This applies mostly to employers who work in railroad, mine, and factory positions.
This semi-monthly payment requirement also applies to those who work in occupations such as oil and gas production and mill or workshop occupations. Other positions fall under this requirement as well, but most employers are not required to abide by this rule.
WY laws include additional provisions regarding the regulation of employment. These requirements are listed within Wyoming laws. Employers and employees are advised to read all laws that pertain to them.
