Federal and State Posters

Labor law is very important because it helps regulate the workplace. Employees and employers should all be aware of the various laws that govern their work. Federal and State Posters are the “go to” item at work. The posters are a vital part of an employer’s arsenal when it comes to employee professional development.
Federal and State Posters should be placed in plain sight by employers. You might see Federal and State Posters in the employee workroom, on a bulletin board, in a hallway with high traffic or anywhere employees congregate. These posters have information regarding federal and state laws listed for employees to view.
The Federal and State Posters contain information about state laws including Public Accommodations, Discrimination, Unemployment Compensation Notice, Workers’ Compensation Notice, Parental Leave Act, Anti-Discrimination, Child Labor Laws, Minimum Wage Laws and Leave of Absence. Federal laws listed on the posters include USERRA - Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA-Job Safety & Health Protection. Each poster is different for each state.
It is mandated by law the Federal and State Posters are posted for employees. In addition they must be updated frequently. This is the responsibility of the employer to post the latest version on file in the work place. It’s easy to forget that the Federal and State Posters must be updated year to year. Many times we do not think about laws and their changes.

If an employer does not display the poster they can be fined up to $7,500. I thought it was important to inform you that Federal and State Posters are available for employers to display for employees. Remember the posters change frequently so make sure the latest version is posted.
