History of Racial Discrimination
September 28th, 2006 Posted by NicoleRacial discrimination has been occurring around the world for many many years. In the United States, the government has put measures in place to help curtail racial discrimination in the workplace. Depending on the nation, the history of racial discrimination is very long and very involved.
The history of racial discrimination in America is directly tied to the roots of race relations. In America, when it comes to race relations between African Americans and white people, many African Americans have been discrimination against. Keep I mind that less than 150 years ago slaves were held by chains in their places of work.
However, thanks to modern concerns and Civil Rights movements, all races, including African Americans and Caucasians, are allowed to have equal opportunities in the workplace. The Civil Rights Act of the 1960s was developed in response to the need to clarify and codify laws pertaining to equal rights. Under the terms of the act, there is to be no racial discrimination in the workplace. The law also helps to define what discrimination is and clearly states that no discrimination should take place against any group of people in the workplace.
All employers are required to post labor law posters in their places of work. The labor law posters contain information about labor laws that pertain to a particular work environment. The information includes pieces about the history of certain labor laws, including information labor racial discrimination. If an employee would like more information about a particular labor law, the employee needs to only reference the labor law poster in order to gain access to information about the labor laws that govern his or her workplace.
The labor law poster also contains contacts information for state and federal labor law agencies that govern labor laws. An employee can contact a labor law agency in order to file a claim based on the contact information found on the labor law posters.
