California And Federal Labor Law Poster
October 4th, 2006 Posted by MarkWe, friends, are on an important quest to understand truly all of the different rules and requirements for employers in states across the Union, as well as for the United States territories like the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. So don’t quit on me yet! We still a lot more to go before we can grasp all of the important intricacies of the state labor law postings.
Heck, we haven’t even grasped all of the intricacies yet for an important and massive state such as California. This state, made famous for its movie star governor, is also an important labor state. It is known for its workers’ comp system, as well as its 14 state postings in its California And Federal Labor Law Poster.
But besides those 14 postings, there are also six federal postings in the California And Federal Labor Law Poster, hence the addition of “federal” in the name of the poster. So let’s review those six federal postings, and save the 14 states postings in the California And Federal Labor Law Poster for a later blog entry.
For starters, we’ve covered these six federal postings before, so they shouldn’t be a great mystery to us. They include, one, the USERRA posting, which goes into detail about what rights employees have when they choose or are forced to go into active duty for the U.S. armed forces. Employers must treat these employees a certain way when they return from being deployed. Basically, they have to keep their job for them, if certain preconditions are met.
Another federal posting in the California And Federal Labor Law Poster is the Family and Medical Leave act posting. This posting goes into detail about how employees are entitled to time off for personal, medical, or family reasons. The gist of this posting in the California And Federal Labor Law Poster is that employees can get up to six weeks off, if certain conditions are met.
