Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)*

November 6th, 2006 Posted by Mark

The Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* is required under federal law for certain employers, and basically it covers federal law when it comes to the workplace and unions. In short it says that under federal law employees cannot be forced or required to join a union or maintain their membership in a union.

That means that employees can’t be forced into a union and have their job held over their heads like a guillotine if they don’t comply. The Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* continues to say that under certain circumstances, the federal laws on the subject allow a union and an employer to join together into a union security agreement. In such agreements, then, employees might have to pay certain periodic payments or some sort of fees for initiation.

But even in these circumstances, the Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* says, employees who aren’t already union members can complain to their payments regarding certain uses, and can request that their payments into this system only go to paying their part in the union costs for collective bargaining, grievance adjusting, contract administration and other such details.

The Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* goes on to say what employees can do if they want to contest payments, or if they feel undue pressure to pay such dues or fees that aren’t related to collective bargaining, grievance adjusting and contract administration.

The Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* even goes on to explain to employees that if they have any sorts of questions, they can contact the National Labor Relations Board, or the NLRB, via either one of its regional offices or at its national address in Washington D.C. Of course, you the employer can just read this blog here for more info on the Union Fee Notice (The Beck Poster)* and other items on employment law.
