New Jersey Labor Law Board
August 4th, 2006 Posted by KimberlyThe New Jersey Labor Law Board provides a great deal of important information about the economy within the state. Although this is one of the larger states in the nation, it is also one of the most difficult economies of them all as well. Nevertheless, the job of the Department of Labor is important there. Its first goal is that of providing for the highest quality work place for the employee. It should be safe as well as fair to the employee. In addition, this labor board provides for help in the creation of jobs, the education as well as training of the employees in the state and provides a great deal of help to those that are unemployed within the state of New Jersey as well.
In providing for employees in this rough economy of our state, the New Jersey Labor Law Board provides necessary help. One thing that is being done to try and help those that are struggled with minimum wage employment is the increase of the minimum wage. In October of 2006, the minimum wage will go from just $6.15 per hour to that of $7.15 per hour. This is a significant increase with the hopes of helping those that are currently struggling with minimum wage to gain some benefits in the long term.
As for the economy of New Jersey, the New Jersey Labor Law Board provides information to help us to know how well it is doing. One way in which it determines how well the economy is doing is by measuring the unemployment rate within the state. The most current information available as of this posting is for July of 2006. The minimum wage is that of 4.9 percent currently within the state. That is just a tenth of a percent over the national average and it is two tenths down from the last two months.
