Required Compliance Posting for Employers in the State of Kentucky (KY)

Kentucky posters outlining the state and federal labor laws applying to employers and employees in Kentucky need to be posted in every workplace.  It is the employer’s responsibility to make sure the posters are visible and available to all employees.  Good places are employee work rooms, break rooms and mail rooms – really, anywhere that the employees gather would be appropriate.

The Kentucky posters are very important for both the employee and employer.  First of all, the employees benefit from the posters because it gives them a clear description of their rights as they pertain to the labor laws.  Secondly, the employees can find the information they need to have if they want to file a complaint or grievance as well as the correct protocol for filing.  Employers can also benefit from these posters because by having the laws handy they can find out what their responsibilities are in terms of upholding the law and protecting their employees’ rights.  The posters are beneficial for both employers and employees because they can easily reference the laws if there are questions about workplace policies and how they pertain to the law. 

Kentucky posters need to have information about both state and federal laws that pertain to labor and employment.  The state laws that need to be covered include information on discrimination, unemployment insurance, OSHA, child labor, workers’ compensation and wage discrimination.  Federal laws that also need to be covered are USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law, Federal Minimum Wage, Employee Polygraph Protection Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and OSHA-Job Safety & Health Protection. 

Employers also need to keep in mind that these laws change frequently (even annually) so they need to make sure the posters they have in the workplace are the most up-to-date according to the current laws.
