Nevada Minimum Wage is $7.25 Until July, 2015

The Nevada minimum wage for 2015 is unchanged at $7.25 per hour at least until July, 2015 for workers who receive health benefits from their employers, and $8.25 per hour for workers with no health benefits, according to State Labor Commissioner Thoran Towler.

Nevada is alone among the states with annual cost-of-living adjustments in the minimum wage, to have no increase for 2015. Looking at a sampling of other states, In Arizona the minimum wage increases in 2015 from $7.90 to $8.05. In Florida there is a 12 cent increase, from $7.93 to $8.05. In Washington, the state minimum wage increases from $9.32 to $9.47 per hour. The highest minimum wages in across the nation are in the states of Illinois, Vermont, California, Connecticut, Washington and Oregon.

In 2006, voters approved a constitutional amendment that requires Nevada’s minimum wage to be recalculated each year based on the cost of living, or increases in the federal minimum wage. However, the federal minimum wage remains at $7.25 per hour and the cost of living increases were not sufficient to drive an increase prior to July 2014.
