Indiana Take Your Gun to Work Law
April 2nd, 2010 Posted by JolieIndiana Governor Mitch Daniels recently signed a law allowing employees to have guns on company property, even if the employer prohibits it.
The new gun control law permits Indiana employees to keep lawful firearms and ammunition in their locked cars on company premises. The guns must be legally owned, and the owner must meet all applicable licensing requirements, and must not be stored in plain sight in the vehicle.
Many employers have prohibited guns anywhere on the property, including in parked cars, in an effort to curb workplace violence. While Indiana employers can still prohibit guns inside the workplace, they no longer have the option of (more…)
Kansas Workplace Safety Report Issued
September 9th, 2008 Posted by MadisonKansas workplace fatalities numbers are just in, and it is not a pretty picture. The most recent figures show a 5% increase in workplace fatalities, from 81 per year to 85 per year.
Even more shocking, 93% of those killed at work were male according to the Kansas Department of Labor. Of the total 85 fatalities, 79 were male. Only 7% of the workplace fatalities, or 6 individuals killed, were female.
Under Kansas law, employers must display safety posters in the workplace. Federal law requires (more…)
