Florida Minimum Wage Updated January 1, 2017

minimumwage

Florida voters have approved an increase to their state minimum wage effective January 1, 2017.  The change increases the rate to $8.10.  Most recently, the Florida minimum wage for 2015 and 2016 has been $8.05 per hour.  Since 2005, Florida voters have approved minimum wages in excess of the standard federal minimum wage of $7.25.

Florida employers will want to notify their employees of this increase and ensure that internal adjustments are made to pay as required.  Employers who intentionally fail to comply with the minimum wage law could be assessed penalties of up to $1,000.

The state requires that all employers notify workers of the minimum wage increase by way of the state official posting notice.  Plan ahead and get your 2017 Florida all-in-one labor law poster and meet all federal and state posting requirements.  At the Labor Law Center we take pride in being your only source for all labor law posting needs.
